This is a nice addition to my classroom library. The story gives some interesting facts that most people don't know about Columbus.

This book is educational in spite of its humorous illustrations and characters' side comments. Written from an elementary child's perspective, the book contains easy to read, picture-laden sections on topics such as, Why Do You Want to Explore, Which Way Would You Steer, Can You Cope On Board, and Would It All Be Worthwhile? A Glossary and Index make this book a great supplemental resource in the classroom or a fun read for a child who just wants to learn about Columbus. Bits of historical trivia not found in textbooks create enrichment. Content parallels that of a 5th grade text with a simpler reading level.

My kids love reading this book with me to get some of the "lowdown" on how life actually was back then. It's very informative, and the illustrations and just great.

Apparently, Chris does. When this book came out I decided to buy it and make sure there was no voodoo involved. Surprisingly, there was none. No magic bullets either.Chris provides solid advice about how to launch a book successfully. The difference between him and most book marketing 'gurus' is that he tested his own advice (and has lots of witnesses) before deciding to share it.The guide isn't long but it has many gems within it including;- The 21 Day Experiment - what he did right and what he did wrong (so you can avoid the same pitfalls.- How to figure out what tier you're currently at and how to move into the next- How Amazon algorithms work- How to create your own launch plan and build buzz for your book- How to launch your book- How to put your book on autopilot after the launch so that it keeps selling and adding subscribers to your mailing list without too much heavy-lifting.There's a whole lot more. The advice he gives is not overly technical. Also, it isn't reserved for people who already have an extensive mailing list. Anyone can use it - whether you're still at zero or about to touch the sky.

As Chris clearly states: “Marketing is about figuring out who wants to buy what you’re selling, then making sure they know it exists."Launch to market doesn’t waste any time in getting into the meat of marketing your book. It describes the power of quality leads vs. quantity, conversion rates, and capturing traffic. As the author points out, the success of a book launch isn’t measured in book sales but platform. A single sign up to your list os worth far more than a single sale at 0.99 or even $10. The foundational theme with launch to market follows a simple process that will ensure your books are selling for years to come. That process is:- Keep getting your book in front of people even after the launch- Get them to buy it;- Collect email addresses so you can continue to sell future books- Put this on autopilot. This frees you up to write more books.Preparing for LaunchThis is my favorite part of the book. Nothing is more thrilling [and terrifying] for an author than actually launching the book. In this section Chris Fox explains the two choices authors have: either go exclusively with Amazon, or, publish everywhere. Also covered is:— the pros and cons of preorders— pricing your book— advertising the launch— Initial vs. immediate exposure on launch— including your Reader Magnet— setting up keywords and categoriesChapter 12 gets into the product delivery and setting up a lead page for conversion. There wasn’t any information here on HOW to set it up, just that the author uses BookFunnels fr delivery of the lead magnet. He recommends LeadPages although there are a few other good page optimization sites out there. Chapter 13 gets more advanced with segmentation, autoresponders, and building an email list. Chapter 15 moves into the long term strategies for authors and how to be authentic, serve your audience and build your business over the long term. A great way to end the book with a powerful message.Overall, this is really good book for authors, not just starting out but, even if you have a few books under your belt you’ll garner some value from Chris’ advice and marketing suggestions to launch.

I loved Write to Market. That book was chock full of actionable advice, reasoning behind the advice, and examples from his own writing.Launch to Market is a different book entirely. It's very short; I read it in half an hour. It provides a thousand yard overview of launch strategies, but only provides examples in passing.

I recommend NO MOUNTAIN TOO HIGH, as a youth biography of Gladys Alward. This book takes the reader on an exciting a walk thru the life experiences of Gladys Alward,a British-born woman who felt God calling her to missionary work. Trusting the Lord, her travels take her across Russia to her destination --China-- where she lives, ministers and eventually dies. The author does well in illustrating the difficulties she faced, and the faith that kept her loving. Upon arrival in China they threw mud at her and called her "foreign devil"; yet she loves them and serves humbly and is assigned the Chinese name Ai-weh-deh which means "righteous one." Upon finishing the final chapter last night I proclaimed aloud: "What an awesome woman!" I believe that you will do the same. Surely Gladys Alward was a unique woman, uniquely called, uniquely used... but throughout the book I was challenged by the thought, "Look what God does through those who simply serve him. What about me?"I read this book aloud to my children (ages 9-13). Every chapter has enough dialog, action, spiritual insight, and often unresolve that each night they pled, "Come on Dad, can't we read another chapter--just one more?" Young readers will find this a compelling easy-reader. I'd also recommend it for Church library and/ or summer reading club--so give it away when you're done with it--or better yet, buy two copies and bless someone.If you're reading this aloud to children, you'll want to take advantage of the "Thinking Further" pages at the end of the book which assist adults in asking thoughtful follow-up questions after each chapter. I wish I had books like this placed in my hands as a young Christian.

Fantastic, inspiring story. The morals and life lessons along the way, (like perseverance, selflessness and work ethic), lead to meaningful discussions as I read this to my... boys! That's right, my two bear-cub boys were super intrigued with the story, always asking for one more chapter! I suppose the suspense and tension throughout the story kept them on edge and wanting more. I'm sure girls would love this story too- I know I am certainly inspired by this woman! This book gets 5 stars in my book for proper grammar and usage, an interesting story line and high moral content.

We homeschool and I chose this book as we are trying to learn more about missionaries. I read it aloud so even our younger children could hear the story. Once we had finished the first chapter, they were hooked! Each day, I heard "When can we read more 'Gladys'?" They do love when I read out loud to them, but this story really was special. Gladys has a sense of humor and exuded a strong will when necessary. I liked changing my voice a bit to "become" her to reflect this and the children often found her quite funny. In searching for more on this remarkable lady, I found the movie starring Ingrid Bergman (on Amazon Prime). I highly recommend this as a pairing- but read the book first! Hollywood does change a few details, but we knew the full inside story already- so it was enjoyable, and very "wholesome". My husband watched along with us- he had not heard the book, or her story before but became quite interested as he watched and began asking the kids questions for more details. Overall, a great experience for us, learning more about a strong follower of Christ. We are now reading the CorrieTen Boom book (an amazing Christian woman in her own right!) and so far, we are equally as impressed with the writing (plan to review when we're finished).

This is a great book! I read it during a mission study entitled .PERSPECTIVES ON MISSION. At the time I was going on a mission trip to the Amazon River. It helped to know that Miss Aylward had triumphed over a multitude of adversities.

I have watched the movie called "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness" that tells the story of Gladys Aylward and was trying to find a book on her life when I found this one for the kindle. I have just started reading the book but have enjoyed it greatly. I commend Gladys Aylward for not letting other people tell her that she wasn't qualified to follow her dream.

Heard pieces of this story at lunch time on radio station was glad to fill in the gaps and read the rest of the story of this persistent woman. I've passed this one on to my daughter to read.

Great companion book to the old movie "Inn of 6th Happiness". Love to see movies that are based on true stories.
