This is such an informative book, well written and very readable. I've now read it three times and have learned something new each time about how autism affects adults of all ages. I gained a new understanding of how their unique brains approach daily life, sensory input, social situations, medical and nutritional care, planning and prioritizing of tasks and life goals, and so much more. When we understand the complexities of those who've been gifted with an autistic brain, we are better able to find practical solutions to their unique dilemmas instead of judging or dismissing them. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is in the autism spectrum, who works with those who are, or who has a family member or friend with autism spectrum disorder.
This book helped me understand myself much, much better. I wish there could be a way for everyone around me to read it too. I hope everyone can gain a better understanding of why people with ASD behave the way we do. We are not trying to be mean, difficult, different, or even odd. In fact, it can be equally confusing for us to understand the behaviour of some neuro-typical individuals sometimes too. This book improved my understanding a great deal and I would love to know how to contact the author for more info and advice. It was that good.

I work as a psychotherapist and am so grateful to have Understanding Autism in Adults and Aging Adults as a resource. Dr. Regan brings fresh perspective and clarity to what life looks like for those on the spectrum. This book is full of practical, creative tools for managing ASD. Although the tools are written for adults, I find that many can be adapted for children as well. Dr. Regan makes a compelling case that with accurate diagnosis and understanding, and the incorporation of well tailored interventions ASD individuals can have hope for a vastly improved quality of life.
Easy to understand. This book is for a person who has the illness. I felt my husband’s case. I cannot be a good peer for him since he is an old adult. This version’s 2018 book may help more peers to help the spouse with illness.
