I read this awesome book for my book club last month (Nov. 2015). I LOVED it. We were so blessed to have the family in the book join us and share their lives with us at our book club meeting. Angel for Higher is a heartwarming, funny and inspirational story about a family learning to navigate life's obstacles. It delves into the struggles of alcoholism and raising a child with Down syndrome and interweaves scripture to show that nothing is insurmountable. I found this to be a story that anyone could relate to and learn from and I especially would recommend it for families with children with disabilities. As a child psychologist working with this population I loved that it highlighted the positive impact that these children have on our families and society. The specific stories of life with Trevor made me laugh and cry and I could not put the book down. We could all benefit from pausing to see the world through Trevor's eyes.
Angel For Higher is a really good book. Better yet an amazing true story of how God can take you from thinking that life is upside down to one of miracles and pure Joy. If we get the chance to get back to Southern Cal and attend an Angels game you can bet we will be looking for Trevor. I would recommend this great book to anyone and can't wait to see it on the big screen.Well done Robert.

"Angel for Higher", is a truly inspirational work in which author Robert Hendershot chronicles his battles with alcohol and and comes to a new understanding of what it means to have a child with a congenital disability. He bares his soul in recounting how alcohol ravaged his life, family and sense of self esteem. After accepting Jesus Christ as his savior, he finally manages to become sober. But when he discovers his first born son Trevor was born with Down syndrome, Robert becomes very angry with God and cries out "I don't deserve a son like this!" Mr. Hendershot becomes more drawn to Jesus Christ and through God's grace maintains his sobriety. As for Trevor, who knew that when he was born he would become an inspiration to all those around him?This book is filled with wonderfully funny and profound stories describing Mr. Hendershot's and Trevor's roller coaster ride through life. Loved this book! From beginning to end, it was inspiring and motivating. God had an amazing plan for both Robert and Trevor and now they are living it. Angel for Higher taught me that God loves everyone and Trevor is a testament to that. This is a must read book for everyone including your family and friends. Enjoy!
